A section of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react with enthusiasm and delight as their club reportedly close in on the signing of Barcelona defender Yerry Mina.
Goal claim the Merseyside giants are working on a £21million deal for the Colombia World Cup star after director of football Marcel Brands met Barcelona chiefs for fresh talks on Monday.
It is said new Everton manager Marco Silva has made it clear he wants to land Mina, who, in turn, wants to join a club where he will be a key player.

COMMENTARY:
In many ways, it is surprising Everton fans are not doing cartwheels in unison at the prospect of their club signing a defender of such calibre. Perhaps Toffees have had their fingers burned by so many mediocre deals over the past two years in which those recruited at great expense have mainly failed to live up to their price tags and salaries. However, most of those who have taken to Twitter in their droves have given the thumbs-up to the club’s hot pursuit of Mina, although some are sceptical as to whether Everton can seal the deal. Mina might not be a regular starter at Barcelona, but he demonstrated at the World Cup that he is highly effective in both penalty boxes and can be a major hit in the Premier League.
