A section of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to hail Connor Goldson for his debut performance in their 6-0 pre-season demolition of Bury on Friday night.
On Steven Gerrard’s home bow in front of a near-packed Ibrox, the home side swept aside the the English League Two side with a torrent of goals.
New signing Goldson, who has arrived from Brighton, was partnered at the back by fellow debutant Nikola Katic, and made a good impression with supporters.
One claimed he was the play the team have been “screaming out for” as Rangers kept a clean sheet amid their goal blitz.

COMMENTARY:
It is that time of the year when the sun is shining, pre-season optimism rides high and all looks sunny in the world. New boss Gerrard could not have got his revolution off to a more emphatic start that blitzing the fourth-tier English side. Certainly, the fans are buying into his appointment, with the remarkable crowd on the same night Belgium and Brazil were playing a World Cup quarter-final proof of the lure of the Liverpool icon. Supporters were also mightily impressed by centre-back Goldson, a player who has been signed to solve the team’s defensive woes of recent issues. There will be far bigger tests ahead – starting with next week – but the defender’s start was impressive and little wonder fans are happy.
