Raul Jimenez was set to link up with his new Wolves teammates for the first time today (Tuesday) since agreeing his move, according to Record.

The Portugese outlet claim the centre-forward, 27, passed through Paris yesterday en route from Lisbon following a holiday after his exertions at the World Cup for Mexico.

Record report that Wolves have signed Jimenez on a loan-to-buy deal incorporating an initial £2.7million loan fee that could be converted into a £33.7million permanent transfer at the end of the season.

OPINION

The battle for the spearhead role at Wolves in the upcoming season promises to be a fascinating one. Jimenez will fight with Leo Bonatini to lead the front line for the newly promoted club in an all-south American tussle. Bonatini set off like a house on fire last season after initially joining on loan but his form dipped markedly in the new year as he failed to add to his 12 league goals in the opening half of the campaign. Jimenez is three years older than Bonatini and has the pedigree to make a big impact. He had a pretty forgettable 2017-18 – he was handed just six league starts by parent club Benfica – but he is a quality line-leader whose scoring record demands respect. In 120 matches for the Portugese giants, the striker has netted 31 times and laid on 15 assists. Moreover, Jimenez has scored 13 times in 65 Mexico appearances. He had a fringe role at the World Cup and will be massively motivated to thrive at a club where he speaks the same language as many of the key men.
