Swansea have approached Yeovil with an enquiry about defender Tom James, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claims on their website that Championship rivals Hull have also made contact over the 22-year-old full-back, who can play on either side of the back-four.

It is understood that Swansea need to sell in order to buy this summer and a quartet of senior players may be in line to exit the Liberty Stadium with Alfie Mawson, Kyle Naughton, Jordan Ayew and Andre Ayew named among those who could be offloaded.

Good move for Swansea?

James was decent for Yeovil last season but he is hardly first team quality for a Championship club.

The former Cardiff full-back made 51 appearances in all competitions for the League Two club in 2017/18, scoring one goal and supplying two assists in the process.

He earned vital big-game experience in cup matches with Manchester United and Wolves, but the Welsh defender is still short of the required quality that Graham Potter needs at the Liberty in order to launch a successful promotion bid.

Likely to happen?

James was born in Cardiff and was on the books at the Bluebirds as a youngster, so it would be a bit of a surprise for him to join their bitter Welsh rivals this summer.

Hull could be a more likely place for him to go, however even though it would mean joining Swansea, he could see a move to the Liberty as being a way to help him move back nearer to his family.

This all depends on if Yeovil will want to sell him though.
