It seems that Fenerbahce may struggle to sign Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos this summer due to Financial Fair Play – and Steven Gerrard should be thrilled with this welcome boost.

Turkish-Football has reported that the Scottish Premiership club have no intentions of letting the 22-year-old key player leave Ibrox this summer, unless Fenerbahce were to meet their valuation.

It is understood that the Gers have rejected a bid from Fenerbahce for the Colombian, and it’s hard to see how the Turkish Super Lig club could come out on top in negotiations given recent history.

Rangers were said to have rejected an £11million bid from Beijing Rehne for Morelos earlier this year, a fee that Fenerbahce would not be willing to meet due to Financial Fair Play regulations.

If the Gers were not willing to sell him for that fee a few months back – then why would they settle for any less now? Especially as since then the player has agreed a new deal at Ibrox.

Morelos scored 18 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions for the Light Blues last season.

His goals may have dried up towards of the campaign, but under the new leadership of Gerrard, he will surely flourish and continue to increase his transfer value.
