Nottingham Forest are in the hunt to sign right-back Kévin Malcuit from Ligue 1 side Lille, according to Kick Off.

The reputable football website reports that boss Aitor Karanka’s search for a right-back has taken him to France, and the 26-year-old’s appearances for the French club has attracted the attention of Championship outfit Forest.

The right-sided enforcer has previously played for Monaco and Saint Etienne, but he is yet to be called up to represent the national side. Karanka is seeking out a right-back for the upcoming season as he attempts to overhaul the squad to achieve promotion.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

Yes, possibly. Malcuit has the versatility to either play in defence or midfield, so he has the ability to add something extra to the Reds.

Forest need to bring players to the City Ground that can help them earn points, and Malcuit fits into this category having helped his team to more clean sheets when he was on the field than not.

He is arguably an underrated player, but has the ability to thrive in Karanka’s team if he makes a swoop for him.

Likely to happen?

It is difficult to tell. Karanka has only expressed an interest in targeting Malcuit so there is no need for the Forest faithful to get excited just yet.

No formal approaches or discussions have taken place, so it really is just a case of the club being linked to another player in this transfer window without anything actually materialising.

It will remain to be seen whether Karanka will target another right-back this summer, depending on how true this link to Malcuit is.
