Southampton have had a bid to sign goalkeeper Angus Gunn accepted by Premier League champions Manchester City, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The newspaper claims via their website that a £10million deal has been agreed and the fee could eventually rise up to £15million in the future.

It is understood that the 6ft 4in (transfermarkt) colossus, who spent last season on loan at Norwich, is now set to be unveiled as Southampton’s newest signing.

Good move for Southampton?

Gunn proved at Norwich last season that he is a very good goalkeeper and it’s definitely a good signing that Mark Hughes has made.

Last term, the 22-year-old kept 16 clean sheets in 51 appearances across all competitions as Norwich finished mid-table.

With a better defence in front of him as Hughes will surely look to continue bolstering his backline, Gunn is bound to have another good season for the Saints, who must now look to offload Fraser Forster.

Forster has been going backwards for some time now and needs selling so that the club does not have too many goalkeepers on the books.

Likely to happen?

It appears that this deal is almost there and does look as though it will eventually be confirmed by the Saints and Man City.

The report says that he is set to be unveiled by the south coast club, so it’s safe to presume that it’s almost done and there are just a few formalities to wrap up.
