Leeds United are in talks to sign Oldham defender Tom Hamer this summer, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The trusted Twitter source, who writes for the Sun, revealed that the Whites have been in touch with their League One counterparts regarding the signing of the 18-year-old, who is also said to be attracting Premier League interest.

The right-back is highly rated, having already made nine senior appearances for the League One side, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

The 18-year-old signed his first professional contract in April, tying him to the club until 2020.

Good signing for Leeds United?

Absolutely. This is an extremely talented young player with a bright future in the game, Leeds need to snap him up as quickly as possible before other clubs declare their interest.

The right-back is already an important player at his current club Oldham and would be a great fit at Elland Road should he join the club.

It would be a good investment for United because whatever they pay for him now, he will be worth a lot more in the future.

Likely to happen?

It depends. If Premier League clubs are indeed interested, as the source suggests, then the Yorkshire giants have got a big problem.

They could be blown out of the water financially if bigger clubs enter negotiations.

One thing Leeds have on their side is that he would play regular football at Elland Road, and the same can’t be said if he was to move to a Premier League club, which gives them a slight advantage.
