Leeds United are just days away from sealing a deal for Derby County forward Matej Vydra as crucial negotiations between the two clubs progress, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper claim on the live transfer blog on their website (02/07, 10:30) that the two clubs are closing in on an agreement for the 26-year-old to move north and that a confirmed deal could be done over the coming days.
Vydra, who has 65 Championship goals in 187 second tier appearances under his belt, was in top form last season, netting 21 league strikes, as well as chipping in with four assists, and adding a single cup effort to his tally.
Good move for Leeds?
Vydra’s record in the Championship improved significantly last season, when he netted nearly a third of all his second flight goals despite having spent five seasons in the division.
His displays were reminiscent of when he was firing on all cylinders for Watford, hitting 20 and 16 goals in two campaigns with the Hornets, before suffering a big dip in form with Reading (three goals, 31 appearances) and his first season at Derby (five goals, 33 appearances).
If Leeds can keep him in his red hot form, then they will have a serious talent on their hands – but the warnings of a poor record are there for all to see.

Likely to happen?
It seems almost certain that this move is going to come off, and it is just a matter of when, rather than if, it goes through.
Leeds need a forward, Derby seems to want to get rid, so it is a match made in heaven.
