Wolves have tabled a bid worth up to £17.8million for Barcelona defender Yerry Mina, according to Tutto Mercato Web.

The Italian news outlet claims that the Premier League newcomers have offered £13.3million up front, with an extra £4.5million in add-ons.

It is understood that the 6ft 4in (transfermarkt) colossus is holding out for a bid from Arsenal, however they are yet to make a move for the Colombia international and Wolves are currently in pole position.

Spanish news outlet Marca has previously reported that Mina is earning £67,000-a-week on his deal at Barcelona.

Good move for Wolves?

Mina was in sensational form at the World Cup for Colombia as they reached the knock-out stage of the competition.

The 23-year-old scored three goals in three appearances for his nation, including one against England which forced the game into an unforgettable penalty shoot-out.

Mina has not exactly had the rub of the green at Barcelona, but that is more down to the fact that the La Liga giants have some of the world’s best options at the centre of defence.

If Wolves were able to sign him this summer, it would be a clever signing, but you should always be wary about signings players off the back of a strong World Cup.

Likely to happen?

It’s odd that an Italian news outlet has reported that Wolves had bid for Mina when there is not really any relevant information to Italian clubs.

That makes this story hard to believe, but Wolves fans should be hoping that it is true, because Mina could be a top player for them next season.
