West Brom are reportedly in hot pursuit of Aston Villa attacker Albert Adomah – and raiding their West Midlands rivals for their player of the year would be an absolute masterstroke by manager Darren Moore.

According to news outlet TeamTalk, the Baggies have joined Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough in the race for Adomah’s signature, with Villa facing the prospect of cashing in on a number of their senior stars this summer due to the on-going financial crisis at Villa Park.

The 30-year-old attacker was in stunning form for the Villains last season, helping them reach the play-off final by scoring 15 goals and supplying seven assists in 44 appearances across all competitions for the cash-strapped club.

It is understood that Aston Villa will not be able to block any reasonable offers for the 18-times Ghana international – and West Brom must launch a full-scale assault to lure him to The Hawthorns in the coming weeks.

TeamTalk adds that Middlesborough are interested in signing Matty Phillips, which means that Albion could lose a first team winger this summer and would need a replacement.

Phillips was one of the Baggies’ worst players last season and cashing in on him for someone who was in the form of his life in 2017/18 would be a nice bit of business by Moore and his team.

It is going to be a hard slog for West Brom to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, however with players like Adomah on board and underperformers like Phillips off the books, it makes perfect sense to raid Villa for one of their best players.
