West Brom have made an approach for Luton right-back Jack Stacey, but the League One club has responded by rejecting the Baggies’ advances, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims via their website that Albion are very much in the hunt to make new additions at full-back this summer, with them also interested in Iran left-back Milah Mohammadi.

Stacey, 22, was key in Luton’s defence as they won promotion from League Two last season and could be lined up by Darren Moore as a back-up option to Allan Nyom.

Good move for West Brom?

Stacey is very much unproven in the Championship, but was a star player for Luton last term by appearing 45 times across all competitions, in which he scored one goal and supplied six assists.

He is a very attack-minded full-back who can play much further up the right wing if he has to.

Nyom is perhaps a more defensive right-back, so having both the Cameroon international and Stacey could be a good pair of options for Moore going into the 2018/19 Championship season.

Likely to happen?

As Luton have turned down West Brom’s first approach for Stacey, their chances of signing have taken a blow – but they are not over yet.

The Baggies are likely to make a few more sales before the transfer window shuts with speculation surrounding the likes of Nacer Chadli, Salomon Rondon, Jay Rodriguez and Craig Dawson.

Selling one or two of these will give the club plenty of funds to go and strengthen their squad and it could see them be able to meet Luton’s valuation of the right-back.
