West Brom are in the hunt to sign Rangers attacking midfielder Josh Windass, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed via their live transfer blog on Tuesday [01:20pm] that Aston Villa, Burnley and surprisingly West Ham are also interested in signing the 24-year-old, who is valued at £3million by the Glasgow giants.

It is understood that bids are expected for the Ibrox first teamer, who was the club’s joint-top scorer last term, however they are likely to be lower than Rangers’ asking price.

Good move for West Brom?

Rangers fans could write up an entire essay on why Windass would be a good or a bad signing.

When you look at his statistics for last season, it appears that he was in incredible form as he scored 18 goals and supplied eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, however he was also ridiculously inconsistent.

Windass flourished after Pedro Caixinha was sacked by the Gers in October and was in the form of his career under Graeme Murty, but for every amazing performances the ex-Accrington ace has, he also seems to have a couple of bad ones as he finished the campaign poorly.

He goes missing in games all too often, but at £3million or less, Albion should definitely take a look at signing him.

Likely to happen?

West Brom are likely to be able to fend off Villa’s interest, but the real concern here is West Ham. What are they doing being interested in Windass?

They are the Premier Legaue’s second-biggest spenders this summer and surely the 24-year-old attacker is way below Premier League standard.

The Baggies could still come out on top in the race to sign the goalscoring midfielder though, as the Hammers’ interest just seems too unbelievable.
