With Wolves reportedly enquiring about AC Milan striker Andre Silva, Tottenham must move quickly to snap him up ahead of their Premier League rivals.
Milan sporting director Massimo Mirabelli, as quoted by the Mirror, has confirmed Wolves have enquired as to the availability of the Portuguese striker, with the club’s sporting director also opening the door to a potential sale this summer.
Tottenham must not let a newly-promoted team, no matter how much they’re prepared to spend this summer, get ahead of them in the battle for one of the best striking talents in Europe.
Although the 22-year-old didn’t have the best season in Italy last time out, scoring just 10 goals in 40 appearances for the Serie A side, he remains a player with significant ability with outstanding future potential. As shown by his magnificent form for his previous club Porto in the 2016/17 season, when he scored 21 goals in 44 games in Portugal.
The Portuguese striker’s style of play means he would be a perfect foil for star Spurs player Harry Kane. The former Porto forward is a target-man style striker, who is very strong, good in the air and also very technically accomplished, which makes him a great option to have in order to break stubborn side’s defences.
Last season, Fernando Llorente was supposed to do that job, but he failed to make any sort of lasting impression, leaving all the pressure and expectations on Kane to deliver all the goals.
The signing of Silva would remove some of those enormous expectations, and should the Englishman ever be injured or suspended for a period of time, it would no longer be a major panic if they had someone like Silva in reserve.
He cost Milan £34million last summer and would probably command a fee on par with that if he was to leave, however, the striker would be worth it in the long-term and his value will increase dramatically. Spurs can’t let Wolves beat them to this signing.
