A section of Tottenham fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that Inter Milan have rebuffed an offer to sign Joao Mario on loan for next season.
Italian news outlet FC Inter 1908 has reported on their website that Spurs have offered to pay 100 per cent of the 25-year-old’s wages for a season-long loan deal, however Inter are only interested in selling the Portugal international on a permanent basis.
Joao Mario spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham, but failed to impress as he featured in just four wins across his 14 appearances across all competitions.
Some Tottenham fans have been left raging over this latest report, with one claiming that the club is showing “zero ambition”.

Sounds like we are being used on this one imo. Would be very surprised if we are interested.

OPINION
Spurs should be aiming for much better signings than Joao Mario, who was average at best for West Ham last season as they managed to stay in the Premier League under David Moyes. Mauricio Pochettino will never win the league with signings like that and Inter, if anything, have done the North London club a favour by rejecting that loan bid. Spurs need to aim high and for that, chairman Daniel Levy needs to loosen his grip on the finances. Spurs are one top player away from a serious title challenge, let Pochettino go out and sign him up before the season starts.
