Some Rangers fans have been expressing their relief and delight on social media after forward Eduardo Herrera left the club on loan.

The 29-year-old has joined Club Santos Laguna on a temporary deal after a single season in Scottish football.

The  Mexican side confirmed the news on their official Twitter account.

One Rangers fan said that it’s a “pity” that Herrera has only left on loan.

OPINION

Rangers fans have a right to be happy with Herrera’s departure, he was simply not good enough for the club. The only frustration that remains is that he’s departing on loan and not permanently. The club now need to press on with their transfer business and bring in some quality additions to the forward line before the end of the transfer window. The recent signing of Umar Sadiq from Roma is a great piece of business but more needs to be done as Gerrard can’t rely on a 21-year-old, as talented as he may be, to score the goals for him all season. They need to focus on bringing an experienced striker in who can bring some know-how and goals to the side.
