Wolves have most certainly been busy in this transfer window, but is their depleted midfield that needs the most attention ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

Alfred N’Diaye has returned to La Liga outfit Villarreal after spending the 2017/2018 on loan at the club, and not signing him on a permanent basis will leave a major gap in the team’s midfield if they do not acquire any other signings.

However, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported on his website that Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio could leave the Serie A giants this summer – and Wolves must make an ambitious swoop for the Italian, who would be the perfect replacement for the Senegal international.

N’Diaye used to bring the best out of midfielder Ruben Neves, providing cover in order to let Neves to play freely in the midfield, whilst also aiding their attacking threat and intercepting balls when the opponents had possession.

Boss Nuno Espirito Santo knows that they need another midfielder who can ensure defensive cover as well as allowing the more creative players to do their thing – and Marchisio would fit the bill perfectly.

The Italy international – who has been capped 55 times for his country – provides a strong presence in the midfield in front of the back four, a quality which he has demonstrated for Juventus during his eight years at the club.

The 32-year-old evidently has a vast amount of experience playing at a top-level for club and country, something which Nuno would want to exploit to the team’s advantage, as having someone with his calibre could prove vital in their return to the Premier League.

His winning mentality – which has included winning multiple trophies with Juventus – would benefit the Midlands outfit hugely, demonstrating his willingness to work hard for his team.

Even though he is 32, Marchisio still has at least a couple years left of playing – and with their funds, Wolves must swoop for the experienced enforcer to reinvigorate their midfield.
