OPINION
Having local young players involved in the first-team of a football club is so important, especially in a club like Rangers. With football now being a truly international game, fans really appreciate when talent comes through the youth system and they like nothing more than a local lad doing well. Supporters can relate to players who grew up in the same area as them and success is all the sweeter with home-grown youngsters in the team. Rangers are a team that consistently give young players a chance and, under new boss Steven Gerrard, players like Burt have a chance to reach their undoubted potential.
