Rangers left-back Nathan Patterson has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2020.
The 16-year-old Scotland Under-17 international, who can play on either flank, set up the only goal of the game for academy colleague Dapo Mebude, in the Under-17 European Championship game against Germany in March.
He has now impressed enough to be rewarded with a new two-year extension – and the news was announced on the official Rangers Youth Academy Twitter page.

OPINION
There are some great players currently working their way through the Rangers academy and Patterson has been impressing in the Under-17s and in the national youth team. He’s moved up to the Under-18s this season and will be looking to use the next two years to get himself noticed by Steven Gerrard. There’s a real sense of optimism around Rangers at the moment – especially as things are going well so far in the Europa qualifiers – and young players will be only too aware of the opportunity that they’ve potentially got under Gerrard. After coaching the Liverpool youth team, Gerrard is in a great position to spot talent at Rangers and bring them through to the senior squad. All the players in the Rangers academy will be looking to impress and there’s a real feeling that there’s a bigger shot at the first team than before. Patterson will have a lot of hard work to do before he’s ready for the senior squad but we wish him all the best after his new contract extension was greed.
