Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is set to make a number of changes in his side’s key Europa League clash against NK Osijek, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Liverpool legend is due to hand out debuts to Lassana Coulibaly and Ryan Kent after the pair impressed in training.

However the trio of Josh Windass, Daniel Candeias and Ross McCrorie are all set to be axed for the tie in Croatia after Gerrard was not impressed with Rangers’ lack of attacking quality in the last round against Shkupi.

Windass, who is one of the three players likely to be dropped, has been linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer, with West Ham reportedly interested in signing the 24-year-old.

OPINION

Rangers were far from convincing in the previous round against Shkupi, managing two goals in as many legs and Gerrard will be aware that his side’s lack of quality in the final third has not been good enough so far. However, the inclusion of  Coulibaly and Kent could have a positive effect on the side as they aim to seek a goal or two to bring back to Glasgow for the second leg. It remains early days for Gerrard during his managerial role at Ibrox but he will continue to work out what his best squad is by chopping and changing players to work out that outcome. His ruthlessness in squad selections can work in his favour as the players know they must fight for their spot.  The previous away trip against Shkupi saw Rangers compete in a goalless draw and, competing against better opposition in Osijek, Gerrard will be primarily focused that the same results occurs in Croatia.
