Tottenham wonderkid striker Reo Griffiths has reportedly terminated his contract at Spurs and Brendan Rodgers must make sure the 18-year-old heads to Parkhead and becomes the next Moussa Dembele.

Griffiths put himself on the map when he scored four goals for Spurs against the Arsenal Under-18s last season, on his way to an impressive 29 goals in 32 games.

He was then linked with a move to Celtic, along with Real Madrid and PSG, with his Tottenham future in doubt.

However, that seemed to be settled when he signed a three-year scholarship deal with Spurs in June, but there was another twist coming.

Griffiths has now sensationally ripped up this contract and is reportedly heading to Ligue 1, with Lyon touted as a possible destination.

If that is true, Rodgers must follow through on Celtic’s initial interest and make sure Griffiths comes to Celtic.

Griffiths is obviously looking for a route through to first-team football and Rodgers can offer him this, along with the promise of showing his talent off on one of the biggest stages in Britain.

He can point to Dembele as proof that Celtic is the best place for a young striker to put himself on the map.

And Celtic could really do with a scalp like Griffiths after an underwhelming summer transfer window.

He will need to move fast though. Griffiths has already left Spurs and could be set to sign a contract imminently. If Rodgers can convince Griffiths that should be with Celtic, he could have landed one of the bargains of the summer and a potential future superstar.
