West Brom manager Darren Moore must use Sam Field more often next season as the highly-rated midfielder was shockingly underused in the Premier League last term.

Field, 20, has recently signed a new contract with the Baggies and it is clear that he is going nowhere this summer, so Moore must transform the England youth international from fringe player into a mainstay of the first team at The Hawthorns.

Moore did not play Field once during his caretaker charge of the club in 2017/18, however he did star under the leadership of both Tony Pulis, albeit briefly, and Gary Megson.

Pulis started Field in both of Albion’s first two games of the campaign, both wins against Bournemouth and Burnley.

However he was inexplicably dropped and did not play again in the Premier League until after Pulis was sacked and Megson brought him back into the first team.

In Megson’s two games as caretaker boss, Field showed that he can be a midfielder that could play for the Baggies for years to come, putting a solid display in an away draw at Tottenham, before scoring his first senior goal against Newcastle.

Using Field more often next season can also save West Brom owner Guochuan Lai millions in the transfer market and Moore will not have to go out and splash the cash on a midfielder that is ready for the Championship.

Field is more than ready for England’s second-tier. He should have been used much more in the Premier League.

He is a West Brom fan and relegation obviously would have hurt him, but it could be a blessing in disguise for the 20-year-old, who now has the chance to make himself a household name.
