Super agent Jorge Mendes and his team have kicked Wolves’ transfer business into overdrive as they look to bring in a number of new recruits over the next week, according to journalist Tim Nash.

The former Express and Star writer claims on his personal Twitter account that the Championship title winners have a lot going on behind-the-scenes in terms of reinforcing their side ahead of their Premier League campaign, with Mendes’ colleague Valdir Cardoso said to be working extremely hard to ensure Nuno Esperito Santo has the players he wants and needs.

Wolves have already had a fairly busy window, securing permanent deals for former loanees as well as some new signings to add to the pack.

Opinion

With Jorge Mendes on the case, Wolves could well see some seriously exciting names linked with making a move to Molineux over the next couple of weeks, and it sounds like there is something bubbling underneath the surface, waiting to explode over the next seven days. Their recruitment has been solid, but they are lacking the number of new arrivals that could have been expected with their contacts and spending power. This is where push comes to shove, and the Championship winners prove to the rest of the top flight that they are not moving up a league to simply avoid relegation. They will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Newcastle United, who finished a respectable 10th last season after securing the second tier title, and a relegation battle will be considered a failure by those at the very top of Molineux. Nuno might have done a brilliant job last season, but the pressure is on once again.
