 OPINION

Wolves must sign Uruguay attacker Giorgian De Arrascaeta ahead of their Premier League rivals.

As reported by The Sun, Uruguay international De Arrascaeta is being monitored by English top-flight outfight Newcastle United this summer.

The report claims that De Arrascaeta, who currently plays his football for Brazilian side Cruzeiro, is set on a move to Europe.

Wolves must do everything they can to sign the forward ahead of their league rivals as he would be a much better fit at Molineux than with Rafael Benitez.

The 24-year-old is a silky footballer who can beat defenders with ease as he’s got real speed and a low centre of gravity.  He can play as a winger, striker or as a No 10, so he’s able to be used in a number of different tactical systems.

At just 5ft 7in tall (TransferMarkt), the forward is a very technical player who can thrive in formations that are based on keeping the ball and lots of rotating movement. Wolves play in a very similar fashion, with boss Nuno Espirito Santo keen on keeping the ball and exploiting the opposition weaknesses when the time is right, which the forward could fit into seamlessly.

However, if he were to join Benitez at Newcastle he would be given a lot less freedom to express himself and would be asked to track back selflessly for the benefit of his team. While the Cruzeiro man is able to do that, it would detract from his game and he wouldn’t be able to contribute as much,

With the Brazilian club looking for a fee of £18million, as reported by The Sun, The Magpies are going to find it difficult to pay that amount without selling first.

The Midlands club need to pounce quickly. With their financial power, they can pay the fee before their rivals get a chance, the player would be a bigger success at Wolves anyway.
