Wolves are undoubtedly anticipating the new Premier League season with excitement, but their attacking force must be significantly enhanced in order to guarantee their top-flight survival.

Staying in the Premier League is obviously boss Nuno Espirito Santo’s number one priority for the 2018/2019 campaign, and they need a player that can offer them that extra bit of top tier class to avoid the relegation dogfight down at the bottom.

The player that can offer them this quality is Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck, who the Telegraph have reported as potentially being part of a cull at the Emirates by new boss Unai Emery as he overhauls the squad this summer.

The 27-year-old speedster is in the last year of his contract with the Gunners, and it does not look as though they have offered him a chance to stay at the North London club.

He is currently on £125,000-a-week (source: Spottrac) at Arsenal, but that could now be significantly reduced if he is axed by the new manager, as he will want to attract new clubs.

Nuno Esperito Santo has already improved his squad slightly with a few arrivals, but the one area that could do with some development is the attack, with a player needed to add pace down the middle.

He can offer speed that can open up opponents’ defences, and would provide Wolves with a forward that has international experience with England under his belt.

His top-flight pedigree with Manchester United and Arsenal is something which could be very useful to a club who have just been promoted, and could be the difference between them being relegated or staying up next term.

Welbeck has only netted 27 goals during four years at Arsenal, but his 43 games for them last season was enough to earn him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad – and Wolves must pounce for him to guarantee their top-flight survival.
