Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on a loan deal for Barcelona defender Yerry Mina, according to the Sun.

The newspaper reports on their website that the Molineux-based outfit are hoping to use super-agent Jorge Mendes to secure a loan swoop for the 6’4″ (source: Transfermarkt) giant, who is also said to be on the radar of Premier League duo Everton and Tottenham.

The Colombian international’s future is up in the air at the La Liga giants, but Wolves’ boss Nuno Espirito Santo could guarantee him regular first-team football, despite Mina admitting that he would favour a move to a bigger club.

Good move for Wolves?

Yes, definitely. Mina showed the world what he was all about in Colombia’s short-lived World Cup run, netting three goals in three games, a first for a defender at a World Cup.

His height would prove to be a lethal threat in the box from set-pieces, as well as defending vital set pieces himself – just like he demonstrated for Colombia.

Having a World Cup star amongst their ranks would only increase the newly-promoted club’s belief that they are capable of staying up next season.

Likely to happen?

Yes, it is a possibility. Mendes will try his hardest to secure a loan for Mina, but there is no guarantee that would materialise as he has already stated that he would prefer a move to a bigger club.

However, what may sway him is the prospect of regular football, something he was not used to at the Nou Camp.

Wolves will obviously be hoping that this can sway Mina, but time will tell whether Mendes can work his magic.
