Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Will Norris has signed a new contract at the club, according to Football Insider.

The reliable football website reports that that the 24-year-old has agreed terms for a three-year contract, which keeps him at the Molineux until 2021.

Norris was second-choice stopper at Wolves behind number one John Ruddy, providing excellent cover as back-up as the Midlands outfit soared to the Championship title last season.

The 6’3″ (source: Transfermarkt) giant hardly featured in the league, with just one outing, but played in cup matches in which he did not concede a goal at all during their Carabao Cup campaign, including their game against Manchester City, where they lost to the Premier League champions in a penalty shoot-out.

OPINION

The fact that Wolves have offered Will Norris a new contract that prolongs his stay at the club is justly deserved, if not on that league cup performance alone. Despite acting an understudy to John Ruddy, Norris has proved what a talented shot-stopper he is, which may help him challenge for the number one spot next season. He deserves a shot at playing in the Premier League, even if he does not cement his place in the first team – and Wolves can play in the comfort that they have a top-quality back-up sitting on the bench. However, do not be surprised in the January transfer window that another club will be chasing after him – after all, it would be a waste to have a talent like him not playing regularly. Ruddy is approaching the age of 31, and will not be long before Norris establishes himself as a club number one.
