Wolves have approached Juventus about signing midfielder Stefano Sturaro, according to Tutto Sport.

The Italian football website reports that the 25-year-old is a subject of interest from a quarter of the clubs in the Premier League club, with West Ham, Newcastle, Leicester and Crystal Palace joining Wolves in the race for his signature.

The Serie A giants value their enforcer at £18 million, but this high asking price has cast some doubts as to where his next destination will be. Sturaro has spent the last three and a half years at Juventus, but been considered a fringe player having only made 12 appearances in the league last season.

Good move for Wolves?

Yes, possibly. Sturaro has had interest from a host of other clubs, so this goes to show what a sought-after player he is.

Wolves will need a central midfielder like him after Alfred N’Diaye returned to his club, who was infamous for steadying the middle of the park and allowing the more creative players to go forward.

Sturaro has the same capabilities, but has unfortunately not made the mark he would have wanted – and a move to Wolves will give him the game time he needs to achieve his potential.

Likely to happen?

It is difficult to tell. The high asking price that Juventus have slapped on his head may deter any potential suitors, and so as a result, his next destination is not yet certain.

The Hammers are also chasing his services, and they have already had a successful stint in the transfer window this summer – so it would not be surprising if Sturaro joined forces with them.

The only way he is likely to join Wolves is if they are willing to meet the £18 million price tag.
