Wolves have been busy in this transfer window, but the one area that they have not focused on intensely is the defence – and they must bring in reinforcements.

They already have the likes of Danny Batth and Barry Douglas amongst their ranks, but the club must swoop for out-of-favour Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno in order to bolster their defence.

Left-back is one of the positions in which Wolves could improve, and the Spaniard would be the perfect solution to that particular problem.

The 25-year-old looked destined for the Anfield exit last summer before establishing himself in the first team, but since the resurgence of Andy Robertson, he has since fell behind in the pecking order to fill the left-back position.

The 5’6″ (source: Transfermarkt) defender’s Premier League experience, with 88 top flight appearances, would be essential to a newly-promoted club like Wolves since he is unlikely to challenge Robertson for the left-back spot again, and Wolves would be lucky to sign him up.

A player of Moreno’s calibre deserves to be playing regular first team football, and boss Nuno Espirito Santo would be the manager more than willing to give him that opportunity.

Wolves need to field a top-class team week in week out in the Premier League next season to face a fighting chance of survival, and the addition of Moreno may just help on the way to becoming a team of that nature.

The Spain international is also hugely versatile, able to operate as a left-midfielder as well as playing in his usual position of a left-back and his attacking threat would also be a bonus for the Midlands-based club.

Nuno Espirito Santo must pounce for Moreno, or else the player’s talent may just go to waste at Liverpool.
