Wolves have had a bid for winger Adama Traore turned down by Middlesbrough, according to the Express & Star.
The newspaper’s report states that the club’s offer was below the £18million release clause present in the 22-year-old’s contract.

The Spaniard has emerged as one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s key transfer targets this summer, although the report also credits Wolves’ Premier League rivals Huddersfield with an interest in the player.
It is understood that any move for Traore would not mean that forward Ivan Cavaleiro would be allowed to leave Molineux, with Wolves rejecting a bid from fellow top flight newboys Fulham last month.
Good move for Wolves?
Traore’s talent has been obvious ever since he first came to England from Barcelona. The 22-year-old showed flashes of his potential at Aston Villa before really excelling at Middlesbrough last season, with five goals and 10 assists in the league. He is clearly a top target for Wolves, although they appear hesitant to pay his £18million release clause. They would obviously like to settle for a slightly lower amount, although Boro are adamant that the Spaniard won’t be sold unless someone triggers his release clause. If Wolves are able to bring him in they will get themselves a hugely talented player, with tons of pace, who will further reinforce the squad ahead of their Premier League return. If they manage it, it’s a great deal.

Likely to happen?
There is a simple way for this deal to be done but Wolves seem reluctant to use it. They obviously value Traore at less than his release clause, but if they dither over the details for too long then someone else might swoop in and sign the Middlesbrough star. It’s anyone’s guess how this one plays out.
