West Ham have held talks with London rivals Queens Park Rangers over a potential loan move for Jordan Hugill after flopping since his signing back in January, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Sun reporter states via his own Twitter account that the Hammers and the Hoops have been in discussions over the 26-year-old switching east London for west London, having failed to have the sort of impact expected following his winter move.

The former Preston North End hitman signed for the Irons after netting eight goals in 27 appearances at Deepdale, but managed to make just three West Ham outings between signing and the end of the season, and he will go down as a flop by fans.

Good move for West Ham?

It all depends on whether Manuel Pellegrini thinks that Hugill has a future at the London Stadium.

A loan move back to the Championship should help him regain his confidence and goal scoring touch, and perhaps get him back to a level where he is ready to fight for a place at West Ham after what must have been a demoralising six months.

However, if he really is that much off the pace, then there is no sense in sending him out on loan, other than to build interest in his capture come January or next year.

Still, with little chance of recouping their money, a sale right now is not financially beneficial, and there will be hopes he can raise his price tag for a sale later down the line.

Likely to happen?

It seemed unlikely Hugill would stay with the Irons this summer and it seems as though QPR could be his destination.

The only thing stopping a move going through could be wage demands, as the Hoops will not want to pay all of what he is on at West Ham.
