West Ham fell to a 3-2 defeat away in Winterthur in their first pre-season friendly and there was a section of supporters who were clearly enraged by their team’s display.

Andy Carroll got his name on the scoresheet shortly after the half-hour mark as he equalised for the Hammers after going 1-0 down.

Mark Noble then scored from the spot in the 85th minute to make it 3-2 and to set-up an exciting finale in a game where the Irons never looked like coming out on top.

One fan called for the head of manager Manuel Pellegrini on the final whistle while another labelled the result an embarrassment.

Here is a selection of some of the best reactions on social media from supporters clearly unimpressed by the result and display:

OPINION:

While this might be a disappointing result it must not be forgotten that it is just a friendly – the real test of this new-look Hammers side will be in the Premier League in August and certainly not against the likes of Winterthur. Calls for Pellegrini’s head are wildly premature but if this is a sign of things to come, then the Irons will be in for another tricky season. The Hammers one good point on the day was the display of Nathan Holland. The 20-year-old left-sided winger was a thorn in the side of their opposition throughout and supporters will now look forward to seeing more of the tricky midfielder as the club continues their pre-season tour.
