Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make any movements in the summer transfer window, and fans are getting desperate for something to happen in the coming days.

There are less than three weeks now until the end of the window and the start of the season, and with all their top-six rivals having strengthened in some way, Tottenham face a race against time to do the same and maintain their Premier League challenge.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is obviously operating under some limitations with the new stadium on the way, and that will no doubt force him into making some shrewd moves in the market before the season begins.

Such a move that could be on the table for the Lilywhites is one for former Chelsea star Andre Schurrle, who looks likely to complete a move to the Premier League before the summer is up.

As reported by Sport Bild, Fulham have joined Crystal Palace in the race for the 27-year-old winger, who has been given permission by Borussia Dortmund to speak to an unnamed English club about a summer move.

While many may say that Schurrle’s best days are behind him, there is little doubt that the Germany international still has a lot to offer any Premier League club who takes a punt on him.

Schurrle was a key part of the Chelsea attack during his time in west London, and while his form has dropped off in recent seasons, he has not really been given the chance to shine at Dortmund.

The German could act as a back-up forward in both wide areas and up front for Spurs, who need reinforcements in both those positions.

Dortmund are clearly willing to let him go, and Spurs should therefore be able to agree a loan or a permanent deal for a reasonable price.

This is a deal that not many will expect, but it is one which would improve the Tottenham squad, and that is what Pochettino needs to do before the start of the season.

Spurs must now hijack their rivals’ interest in Schurrle and enter negotiations with Dortmund to secure the first signing of their summer window.
