VERDICT

Tottenham Hotspur should make Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech their prime transfer target this summer.

According to a report by Voetbal International, Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Morrocan midfielder Ziyech will leave the club this summer.

This revelation means that Spurs should now move quickly to snap up the playmaker before other major European clubs get involved.

Mauricio Pochettino loves working with talented young players, coaching them on the training ground and trying to improve them in all aspects of their game. However, there comes a time when a player with the ability of Ziyech becomes available and in that case, he has to at least consider a place for him in the squad.

The 25-year-old has an enormous amount of technical ability, able to play the most difficult of passes and attempt the most dangerous of shots, he is a constant danger for the opposition. If you close him down, he will pass it to a teammate before they have a chance to tackle and if you don’t close him down, he’ll take advantage of the shooting opportunity from distance.

He had a phenomenal season for the Dutch side last season, contributing an incredible 18 assists in 39 appearances in all competitions, also scoring nine goals in total (TransferMarkt). His record may be the reason he wants to move, maybe he’s proven to himself that he belongs at the highest level.

When a player of this quality becomes available, you have to disregard your long-term transfer plans and any development paths for youngsters, because he would add so much to any team in Europe.

The signing of Ziyech would suit the way Pochettino’s side play, while Harry Kane would love getting service from both him and Eriksen in the same team. They must move now, or risk losing him to a rival, he won’t be available for long.
