Tottenham are among a number of clubs in the hunt for teenage York City winger Vinnie Steels, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet claims that Spurs have shown an interest in securing the 16-year-old’s signature, along with PL rivals Burnley, Liverpool, Wolves, Huddersfield Town, Southampton, Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough.

The report reveals that the wonderkid would cost nothing to sign because the player has not yet signed professional terms and as his current club operate in non-league, they will not be owed any compensation should a team sign him.

The winger has already made his first-team debut for his current club, having joined from Darlington in February.

Good signing for Tottenham?

Hard to say.

The winger must be something special if he has already made his debut at just 16 years of age, especially in non-league where defenders don’t take any prisoners, the kid must have good mental strength even at this tender age.

It’s hard to predict exactly how good this player could turn out to be, but he’s young, English and an exciting talent, who would be a good addition to the Spurs academy.

Likely to happen?

Looks it. What 16-year-old is going to turn down the chance to join Tottenham with the players that they have in their squad and the opportunity to work with Mauricio Pochettino?

It’s an incredible opportunity for the youngster.

As the winger wouldn’t cost anything to buy, there’s no risk whatsoever for Tottenham, so there are no barriers in the way of this potential transfer, only the interest of the club stands in the way of a signature.
