However, despite what seemed to be a comfortable run out for the senior squad at the club, a selection fans took the announcement as a chance to bemoan the lack of activity in the transfer window this summer, with not one first team signing made by the Lilywhites.

Opinion
It is fair to say that Spurs fans have one thing and one thing only on their mind right now, and it is not how many goals they can rack up against a League One side. Spurs performed admirably last season and there are expectations for the Lilywhites to replicate, or even build on, their relative success, but that is not going to happen if they sit on their hands while the rest of the Premier League strengthen with new signings. Fans are desperate to see the club show some ambition and while Daniel Levy is know for leaving it late, supporters are not showing the same level of patience. There will no doubt be at least one or two new names through the door at the club’s new stadium, but that will not be enough, especially when their top four rivals are splashing cash left, right and centre.
