Tottenham are expecting multiple bids from Europe for their right-back Kieran Trippier, according to the Sun.

The newspaper reports on their website that Spurs are expecting some offers for their 27-year-old right-sided flyer, with La Liga giants Real Madrid firmly in the hunt for the England international’s signature this summer.

The World Cup star – who netted a free kick for England against Croatia – is said to be worth £50million and upwards, a staggering increase on the £3.5 million that the Lilywhites paid Burnley for him in 2015. However, Trippier only signed a new five-year deal last summer, and the club are going to be extremely reluctant to let him leave.

Good move for Tottenham?

No, definitely not. When is it ever a good idea to sell one of your best players? Trippier was in fine form for Tottenham last season, and he is undoubtedly going to come back a better player following the Three Lions’ remarkable World Cup run.

He is an integral part of the Spurs team and is an incredibly versatile player, being able to operate in both right-back and midfield positions – there would be a gaping hole if Trippier were to leave.

A player like him would be hard to replace and they should do everything to keep him.

Likely to happen?

No, not at the moment. The likelihood of Trippier moving abroad is not very high as boss Pochettino will want to resist any approaches made for one of his stars.

He does not look like he will join Real Madrid any time soon, as they need to concentrate their efforts on finding a replacement for Ronaldo.

The Spanish giants may test Spurs’ resolve with high bid, but this will not amount to anything.
