It is set to be an interesting final few days of the transfer window for Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, who are yet to really strengthen this summer.

The only two players that the club have agreed deals for – Odsonne Edouard and Scott Bain – both played for the Hoops last season on loan, meaning there are no new faces yet at Parkhead as we approach deadline day in 12 days time.

The club have not even been linked to that many players this summer as Brendan Rodgers struggles to work out who would bolster his squad, but an interesting name has emerged in the last day or so.

As reported by The Sun, the Hoops are in the hunt to sign Tottenham starlet Reo Griffiths, who is being chased by Real Madrid and PSG.

Griffiths shot to prominence last season as he scored 28 goals in 32 games in all competitions, including four in one game during a 9-0 drubbing of bitter rivals Arsenal.

The prolific 18-year-old is clearly a huge talent, and that is illustrated by the calibre of clubs that are reportedly in the hunt for his signature this summer.

The Sun claim that Griffiths’ decision on his future will not come down to money, with the youngster seeking to join a club where he will be handed the chance to play first-team football.

This would put Celtic firmly in the frame to sign Griffiths, with there being absolutely no chance that Real or PSG could offer him first-team minutes next season.

The Hoops are possibly to lose one of their best striking assets in Moussa Dembele either in this window or soon after, and in many ways Griffiths could become the next Dembele at Parkhead.

Dembele was signed as a young striker on a free transfer with a compensation fee paid, and that would be a similar situation with Griffiths, with Spurs entitled to compensation if he cuts short his scholarship deal.

Both players are tall, quick, and strong, with a serious eye for goal, and all the signs are there to suggest that Griffiths could become a prolific striker for the Hoops, just as Dembele has.

The club must now launch a serious move for the Tottenham ace, with their trump card of potential first-team football sure to tempt the 18-year-old into heading north this summer.
