Jack Grealish is set to tell Aston Villa’s new owners that he wants to move to Tottenham this summer, according to the Telegraph.

The report also claims that Spurs are finally ready to make an offer for Grealish this week and that manager Mauricio Pochettino is “determined” to sign him before the window closes.

Villa’s immediate financial problems have been eased after the £55million takeover by Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens but Grealish still wants his move, giving him Champions League football, to go through.

Villa are looking for at least £30million for Grealish.

Good move for Tottenham?

It all depends on how much they get him for. Grealish is a real talent but he’s going to take time to adapt to Tottenham and life at the top of the Premier League. He had a brilliant season for Villa in the Championship but £30million is a lot of money for a Championship player. The report claims Pochettino is determined to land him though and he has obviously seen where he will improve the Spurs team. If he does move, it will be fascinating to see whether he can deliver on the promise that he’s shown with Villa.

Likely to happen?

Again, it will all come down to the price. Levy drives a notoriously hard bargain but Aston Villa don’t want to sell and don’t necessarily have to any more. Steve Bruce has bullishly said that anyone wanting to buy Grealish won’t be able to get him on the cheap, and we know that’s how Levy likes to do his business. With Grealish apparently determined to move to the Premier League, it would make sense for Villa to let him go, and use the money to strengthen for another tilt at promotion after a very scary summer.
