Tottenham defender Juan Foyth could join Leeds United on loan after discussions behind the scenes, according to Football London.

The Trinity Mirror site claim the possibility of the Argentine centre-back uniting with another of his countrymen in Marcelo Bielsa next season is a real one.

Football London report Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is weighing up whether to allow the 20-year-old to head out in order to get regular senior exposure 12 months after his arrival from Estudiantes.

Good move for Leeds?

Definitely. The Championship outfit are crying out for a classy centre-back to partner Pontus Jansson next season. The club were strongly linked with Swansea City’s Kyle Bartley earlier in the summer but he now appears set to join West Brom, which means error-prone skipper Liam Cooper is most likely to remain in the side unless reinforcements arrive. Foyth showed in his cup run-outs last season that he has huge potential and Pochettino has spoken of the impact he can make if he continues his development. If Leeds can take the Argentina youth international for the season, it would be a major coup.

Likely to happen?

Talk of a move to Leeds for Foyth first emanated shortly before Bielsa was appointed and had come quiet in the last few weeks. But it has now emerged once again as a real possibility as Pochettino plots a developmental path for the highly rated youngster. Should the manager decide it is in Foyth’s best interests to be loaned out, Leeds are well placed through Spanish-speaking Bielsa’s reputation and rapport with Pochettino to get the deal done.
