After a change of date for the closing of the summer transfer window, Leeds United have just a month to bring in any new recruits that they want to bolster their squad with – and they must start to get some business done immediately.

The Whites have been heavily linked with a number of names from across England and abroad but so far Lewis Baker, who joined on loan from Chelsea, is the only new face through the door at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa will no doubt want another body or two in to help bring some quality to his side, and with Felix Weidwald and Andy Lonergan leaving, there are some notable gaps between the sticks.

The Yorkshire Evening Post had claimed that Angus Gunn, the exciting young shot stopping talent at Manchester City, was one of the targets to compete with Bailey Peacock-Farrell in goal, but it looks as though they are to suffer yet more disappointment as the summer goes on.

BBC journalist Simon Stone claims that Southampton are the side who are to take on the former Norwich City loanee on a permanent swoop, and while losing out to a Premier League side will be viewed as an inevitable defeat, it sets Leeds back once again.

If Andrea Radrizzani wants Bielsa to be the success that he is expected to be, then backing him in the transfer window is an absolute must, and if Leeds want to be ready for the start of the Championship then that business needs to happen right away.

Waiting will only result in disruption to the squad with new players trying to bed themselves in, and Bielsa himself would not have a settled starting XI for when the new campaign kicks off.

They must push the disappointment behind them and continue to try and recruit some quality talent immediately – or face another campaign of frustration.
