Nottingham Forest are set to land Bournemouth centre-back Tyrone Mings, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper’s live blog (7 July, 6pm) reports that the Cherries are willing to sell their 25-year-old defender to Nottingham Forest, and replace him with Spanish defender Diego Rico, of whom they must pay £5million for.

This is the second player Forest could be landing from Bournemouth, who previously offloaded their striker Lewis Grabban to the City Ground.

The 6″4 (source: Transfermarkt) giant only made five appearances for the South Coast-based outfit during the 2017/2018 campaign, after he arrived from Ipswich in 2015 for a fee of £11.3 million.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

Yes, it is possible. Mings only made a handful of appearances for Bournemouth last season, meaning it is difficult to assertain what sort of player he is, and what potential he has.

He was obviously not first choice for Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, and a move to Forest may just be what he needs to have a fresh start in his career.

Playing in the Championship may be the perfect environment for Mings, who obviously did not adorn to what Howe expected of him in the Premier League.

Likely to happen?

Yes, it is possible. Once Bournemouth sign Diego Rico, then they are definitely going to sell Mings to Forest, if they maintain their interest.

It is easy for the Reds, who do not have any other club in their way of pursuing the defender – meaning they can get on with the transfer as quickly as possible.

The move rests upon whether Bournemouth are successful in their pursuit of Rico, which if failed, may mean they hang onto Mings that little bit longer.
