Newcastle United fans have delivered mainly angry reactions as the club are reportedly looking at making a move for Andros Townsend.
The Crystal Palace winger is a firm favourite of boss Rafa Benitez and the Spaniard is keen to bring the former England international back to St James’ Park, after he impressed during his first spell on Tyneside under Benitez, with Sky Sports journalist Keith Downey confirming that talks between the two clubs have held talks.
We’re told Newcastle want to bring Andros Townsend back to the club. Initial talks have taken place with Crystal Palace – but as yet no bid.

This was met with a reaction filled with fume from United supporters, who are looking for the club to make what would be their third signing of the summer. Comments included “he can regain that form again” and “I’ll be happy if Townsend and Kenedy joins.”

This is the same Townsend who couldn’t get away quick enough after we were relegated, we plucked him from Spurs reserves & give him a platform and he gave no loyalty back. Ritchie dropped down a division to come and play for us, rather have players like Ritchie all day long!

OPINION
Newcastle’s move for Andros Townsend certainly has left the club faithful feeling hot under the collar. It is true that he is not in the best form of his life, but they need to remember the last time he played under Benitez he was in striking form and earned an avid admirer in the shape of the Spaniard. At St James’ Park, he is sure to regain his form once again, and help United’s strikers by providing assists and goals. They are right in saying that he is not worth any near £30 million, and £18 million seems a reasonable price for a player of his experience. Time will tell how this transfer saga develops, and whether he will win over the portion of supporters against having him at the club.
