Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to react with delight after a reliable journalist revealed the club are closing to signing Chelsea attacker Kenedy on a season-long loan.
Daily Mail sport chief Lee Clayton reported on his personal social media account on Sunday evening that the north-east giants will announce the temporary capture of the Brazilian wide forward this week.
One year loan deal for Kenedy to return to Newcastle will be announced this week. He was a popular signing last season. Rafa Benitez crucial to the deal #NUFC

Proof will be when he’s in a black and white Newcastle shirt, until then I don’t believe a thing.

COMMENTARY:
There has certainly been plenty of excitement among the Newcastle faithful after the reliable Clayton reported what has been the club’s biggest transfer breakthrough this summer. Some, wary of the innate caution and bloodymindedness of unpopular owner Mike Ashley, won’t believe it’s done until they see Kenedy paraded in a club shirt on the Newcastle website and social media channels. Others point out the importance of the club securing a loan-to-buy option rather than a straight loan, as they want Kenedy signed permanently in a year. Nevertheless, the overall reaction is one of delight following what has been a pretty ordinary summer so far in terms of squad reshaping after the encouraging finish to last season.
