Manchester United are close to completing an eight figure deal for Rochdale midfielder Daniel Adshead, according to the Mirror.
The outlet claims that the 17-year-old impressed youth team boss Nicky Butt in a behind-closed-doors game between Rochdale and the Red Devil’s youth team at United’s training ground last week.
The report includes a quote from a United source which reveals that the club’s staff were ‘hugely impressed’ with Adshead’s performance in the match.
It is claimed that Jose Mourinho’s side will make a transfer bid of £1million plus add-ons to secure Dale’s youngest ever debutant, having featured for the first-team when he was just 16 years and 17 days old.
Good signing for Manchester United?
Potentially.
It’s hard to say how good a young player will become at such a tender age but if United youth team boss Nicky Butt was impressed, he may be a special talent to look out for in the future.
At such a low fee, there’s very little risk to the club so if he doesn’t develop in the right way then United aren’t going to miss the reported £1million transfer fee.
He might be one to keep an eye on and see how he develops.

Likely to happen?
Very likely.
It must be so difficult as a 17-year-old to turn down a move to the great Manchester United.
His wages will go up, he will get to play with better players and he can represent a massive club like United when he puts on the red shirt.
It’s also a lot a money for Rochdale to turn down for such a young player, they can use those funds to buy first-team players and improve their squad.
