Manchester United are set to launch a £35.4 million bid for PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano, according to Tutto Mercato Web.

The Italian football website reports that the Red Devils are keen on signing the Mexican international after his impressive performances for his country in this summer’s World Cup out in Russia, in which they crashed out to Brazil in the last 16.

La Liga giants Barcelona are also said to be interested in signing the Mexican speedster, who scored 19 goals for the Dutch side across all competitions last season, which means a bidding war could start between the two clubs to land the 22-year-old, who featured in Mexico’s shock 1-0 over Germany in the group stages.

Good move for Manchester United?

Yes, absolutely. Lozano was on fire for Mexico in the World Cup this summer, and was even better for his club last season as he bagged 19 goals and laid on 11 assists.

He is in exceptional form at the moment, so there is no better time for United to snap up the Mexican from the clutches of the Spanish powerhouse.

With boss Jose Mourinho losing faith in Anthony Martial, Lozano would be the perfect replacement for the Frenchman.

Likely to happen?

Yes, possibly. United are already launching a bid to land Lozano, which shows their intent to bring him to Old Trafford – however, Barcelona will prove to be stiff competition for the Mexican’s signature.

Should a bidding war commence between the two parties, then the probability of Lozano moving to Manchester or Spain would be even.

Barcelona are notortious for bringing upcoming talents to their club like Lozano, and United will have to watch their backs when it comes to bidding for him.
