Some Liverpool fans on social media couldn’t help but urge their club to sign Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel after watching him play for Denmark in the World Cup.

The 31-year-old shot-stopper featured in his nation’s game against Croatia as they crashed out of this summer’s tournament after losing 3-2 on penalties in the round of 16 – although Schmeichel’s heroics were noted, having saved spot kicks in both added time and in the shootout.

His performance was met with Reds’ fans urging their club to sign the Dane, with very few suggesting that they did not like the idea of the Premier League-winning keeper, who picked up the title in 2016, joining their ranks, with comments including “class act” and “outstanding”.

This is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets from Liverpool fans urging their club to sign him:

OPINION

Liverpool fans are obviously loving linking the club to the services of Kasper Schmeichel, who has thoroughly impressed on both the international stage and for his club in recent years. Leicester are unlikely to let the 31-year-old go any time soon due to being one of the club’s most prized players, and Liverpool would have to make a very generous offer to convince the Foxes to part ways with him. The title contenders are more than capable of splashing the cash to get players, but Schmeichel may not command such a high fee like Roma’s Allison did. He would be extremely good value for money, and the club should test Leicester’s resolve to snap him up.
