OPINION
Firth is clearly delighted to pen extended terms with the club he supports and who he joined at the Under-11 age. Liverpool have high hopes for the youngster, who is a regular member of the U23s squad and has improved significantly in recent years under the tutelage of Mark Morris. Born in Yorkshire, Firth joined Chester on loan in January and was a regular starter for the non-league outfit in the second half of the season as he got crucial first-team experience under his belt. Liverpool fans will be eager to know if Firth has the potential to be the top-class goalkeeper the senior side are crying out for. Both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet are regarded by fans as accidents waiting to happen and supporters want them to be replaced by a more consistent operator who can deal with the pressure of playing for an elite club. Firth has a long way to go before he can be considered a potential Anfield first teamer and would need to improve in all areas of his game to make the move from the academy base at Kirby to the Melwood set-up.
