West Brom are in the race to sign midfielder Daniel Amartey from Leicester City, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football website reports that the 23-year-old is the subject of a three club race to sign him, with Championship outfits Stoke City and Swansea City also said to be interested in his services, and that talks have been held .

The newly-relegated trio have all reportedly made enquires to the Foxes over the availability of the Ghanaian international as they remain hopeful of a return to the Premier League next season.

Amartey joined Leicester half-way through their title-winning campaign, but has since failed to hold down a regular spot in the team.

Good move for West Brom?

Yes, possibly. Despite Amartey not holding down a regular place in the first team, he was still a part of the squad that won the Premier League in the 2015/2016 campaign.

Operating as a defensive midfielder, this means he is also able to play in the defence as well, which demonstrates his versatility to a side aiming to be promoted at the first time of asking.

Amartey is a tempting prospect, and the Baggies should seriously consider a move to put them in the front of the queue for his signature.

Likely to happen?

Yes, it is fairly likely. Boss Darren Moore has enquired about the enforcer’s availability, but so have Swansea and Stoke – and this means he will will face fierce competition to sign him.

All three clubs are an attractive prospect for Amartey, as he is likely to be playing Premier League football whatever club he ends up joining.

West Brom need all the reinforcements they can get this summer, and Amartey could be a signing that helps them achieve their top-flight dream.
