Wolves defender Kortney Hause is being lined up for a temporary exit from Molineux as Championship side Reading plot a loan raid this summer, according to journalist Tim Nash.

The former Wolves correspondent for the Express and Star claims on his personal Twitter account that the Royals are hoping to take the 6’2″ (source: Transfermarkt) giant centre back for the upcoming campaign, having seen him struggle to force his way into the first team under Nuno Esperito Santo last season.

The 23-year-old managed to make just four appearances across all competitions, but he does have a total of 67 Championship outings under his belt, having come through the youth system with Wolves.

Opinion

With Wolves having stormed there way to the Championship title, and therefore Premier League football, last season, Hause’s chances of picking up any sort of first team football have diminished even more than they were during the last campaign. Whatever the reason, be it the performances of other players or a lack of trust in the young centre back, Nuno did not play him, and at his age, game time is crucial for his development. As such, a move to Reading could do him the world of good moving forward, giving him experience of the second tier and building him up for what Wolves will be hoping is regular first team football in the Premier League. It also gives them the chance to see if he actually has what it takes to play competitively week in, week out, and if he cannot live up to expectations then there may be a permanent exit on the cards in the near future.
